Our mission

The Future Mental Health Professionals is dedicated to preparing high school students for careers in mental health, counseling, psychology, and human services. Our mission is to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience needed to make a difference in their communities while advocating for mental health awareness and support.

Our goals

  • Inspire students who are interested in careers in mental health and behavioral sciences.

  • Provide hands-on training and certifications in ethics, crisis intervention, peer support, and trauma-informed care.

  • Develop student leadership through real-world advocacy and professional networking.

  • Promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma through student-led projects.

  • Prepare students for college programs and careers in counseling, social work, psychology, and related fields.

Student Leadership & Projects

FMHP members can take part in meaningful projects and competitions to develop hands-on skills and leadership abilities:
- Mental Health Awareness Campaigns – Develop and lead initiatives to reduce stigma in schools.
- Community Mental Health Projects – Partner with local organizations to support underserved populations.
- Case Study Competitions – Analyze real-world mental health cases and present solutions.
- Therapeutic Communication Challenge – Practice skills in active listening, de-escalation, and empathy.
